In 2014, Quinte and District Rehabilitation was awarded OHIP funding for a community physiotherapy clinic. The doors opened for Quinte Rehab Physiotherapy Clinic in March of that year.
Quinte Rehab Physiotherapy Clinic services are covered by OHIP for children 19 years of age or younger, and seniors 65 and older. In addition, eligibility criteria include clients recently discharged from hospital, as well as Ontario Disability (ODSP) and Ontario Works (OW) recipients. A referral from a physician or nurse practitioner is required.
The healing process may take many directions and Quinte Rehab is uniquely positioned to be able to offer both Ontario Ministry of Health (OHIP) and privately funded treatment. Jennifer Mills points out that while many of the services provided are funded through OHIP, OHIP has specific eligibility criteria. Treatment can also be funded through private health insurance, or paid for by the client.
Clinic services are funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health (OHIP) for:
- Children 19 years of age and younger
- Seniors 65 years of age and older
- Clients recently discharged as an inpatient from a hospital, and in need of physiotherapy clinic services related to the condition, illness or injury for which they were admitted to the hospital
- Clients eligible for funding of services under the Ontario Disability Support (ODSP) or Ontario Works (OW) programs.
The client must be referred by a Physician or Nurse Practitioner.
